Financial Assistance
IDS welcomes applications from families of varied means. Like most independent schools, the school's budget includes funding for need-based financial aid awards. While our resources are necessarily limited, we are committed to assisting families to the best of our abilities. As our aid program seeks to support many families with moderate subsidies, we regret that we are not typically able to make full-tuition awards.
Families seeking financial aid may apply by submitting financial information through the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) program. The program is available online and we encourage you to apply for financial assistance at http://sss.nais.org You may also request a Parent Financial Statement form from the admission office or download it here, PFS for ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-12.pdf.
In order to make an award, IDS requires that you submit directly to SSS copies of your IRS 1040 and W-2 forms for the 2011 year. In addition, we ask that you send them a copy of a signed, but not dated IRS form 4506-T. This form is available by calling 1-800-829-1040 or by downloading it at www.IRS.gov. All information is held in strictest confidence. In those cases where parents are not living together, the resources of both parents will be considered in establishing the family’s level of need.
No family should feel deterred from applying for admission for financial reasons since each evaluation is separate. Financial assistance is available to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Other Options
Even with financial aid, you may prefer to manage cash flow more evenly than the school's required payment schedule. If so, we encourage you to explore the Tuition Management Systems plan.
Tuition Management Systems - A KeyCorp Company
You can spread annual tuition costs over a 10-month period with this installment plan. You pay the initial 10% directly to the school and then divide the remaining tuition over 10 months, beginning in April through January of the following year. It is interest-free, but there is a non-refundable $55 application fee. You can apply online by visiting www.afford.com, or call 1-800-437-3430 for more information.
The sooner you start your financial planning for an IDS education, the better. So call us at the Admissions Office at (860) 347-7235. You can also email us.
