MAPA Brochure & Application - Spring 2012

The Middlesex Academy for the Performing Arts (affectionately known by its acronym, MAPA) provides a blend of education, training, and performing experience to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of the arts for students of all ages. Our classes give members of both IDS and the communities at large the opportunity to explore, discover, and participate in a variety of performing arts, including dance, music, musical theatre and drama outside of regular school hours. Purposefully synthesizing education, training, and performing experience, the Academy inspires creative spirit, teaches discipline, and improves self-confidence, while helping individuals set and reach personal artistic goals. The Middlesex Academy for the Performing Arts is a dynamic environment for those just beginning their creative journey as well as those experienced in the arts.

In addition to providing school-year programs, MAPA also operates in the summertime. Our Summer Theater Camp program offers a unique experiential opportunity for children who embrace the stage. Campers and counselors work together for six weeks to produce a show, complete with musical score. In the process, campers learn performance basics such as movement, acting, and voice projection. Summer Theater Camp is a remarkable place to learn from experienced drama instructors while making friends with children who share a passion for acting and music.
