Early Childhood Spanish

Bienvenidos to Spanish at IDS. Our goal is to ensure that our students experience the benefits of learning a second language by achieving language proficiency in Spanish. Our program offers a variety of developmentally appropriate materials, technology and strategies that enable students to meet grade level objectives and goals. Lessons integrate language with culture, which leads students to thoughtful observations of Hispanic cultures and reflections on their own. IDS students seek out opportunities to communicate in Spanish throughout the day, in their community, and in the global community that awaits them in the 21st century.

Students in Pre-Kindergarten through First Grade experience a fresh and exciting approach to learning Spanish that includes songs, games, art and conversation. Here we introduce various aspects of foreign culture and converse on these subjects, stretching foreign language skills as we expand our worldview. During these preparatory years, we enjoy photographs, popular sayings, stories and rhymes that impart an authentic sense of the Spanish speaking countries we study and their cultures.
