Working with Working Families

At IDS, about two thirds of our families include two working parents. Our program is designed, with Before Care beginning at 7:30 and After School Programs running until 5:30, to accommodate the schedules of working families.

IDS benefits immensely from the many diversities of our community. Families served by IDS hail from 33 different towns, stretching from West Hartford to North Haven.

Our common values bind us into an unusually friendly and kind community. We come from different countries and different towns, different professional lives and different upbringings, making diversity of talents and perspectives and insights a rich and accessible gift for our students and parents. At our core, we share a common desire that our children become well educated and also that they become good people.

At IDS, academic and social journeys run together. As popular culture beckons children toward fashion and "cool," we work and help one another to reinforce the weightier values of character and integrity. With good humor, we sustain a perspective to help our children negotiate the twists and turns in their journeys into young adulthood.
