Summer Explorers is a recreation program based on a weekly theme. This summer the topics include: Summer Fun, Nature, Stars and Stripes, Sports, Construction, and Bugging Out. Activities involve arts & crafts, games, music, creative movement, and dramatic play. Some of the activities might range from children making their own rocket ships to creating an ocean classroom. Morning snacks, lunches and beverages are brought from home. Those campers participating in the afternoon program may also bring an additional snack and beverage. Please note that we are a peanut/nut vigilant facility and ask that you not pack foods containing peanuts or nuts. After lunch and rest time, the afternoon activities continue the week’s theme. Participants in Explorers must be three years old by 6/1/2012 and toilet-trained. Students who prefer a shorter day may leave after participating in the morning session. IDS Assistant Teacher, Amie Powell, leads this exciting program. |

About MAPA
The Middlesex Academy for the Performing Arts provides a blend of education, training, and performing experiences that enhance the understanding, and appreciation of the arts for people of all ages. The arts inspire creative spirit, teach discipline, improve self-confidence, encourage collaboration, and help individuals set and reach personal goals. MAPA provides a dynamic environment for those just beginning their creative journey as well as for those who are more advanced. Academy Theater Program Our Academy Theater Program offers a unique opportunity for children who love the stage. Campers and staff work together during four weeks of full-day workshops to produce a show, complete with musical score. This coming summer's production is The Wiz. In the process, campers learn performance basics such as movement, acting, and voice projection along with all that goes on behind-the-scenes of a production. The MAPA Summer Theater Program is a great place to learn from experienced drama instructors while making friends with others who share a passion for the performing arts. For specific questions regarding our four week theater program, please contact Shelley Sprague at (860) 638-3973. |
