As announced at Middle School Meeting yesterday morning, November 5th, 2011, will be IDS's first Design Thinking Challenge Workshop. From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, teams of 3-5 middle schoolers from IDS will have the opportunity to think creatively, to build models, and to design solutions for a real-world problem: the energy efficiency of schools - specifically IDS.
This morning, students were asked to consider joining a team to help work on this challenge. Our hope is that most students will be able to join the challenge on November 5th and think through the major issues during the three-hour time frame; students may choose to do additional research ahead of time.
Teams can register at the following address. The deadline for registration has been extended to Wednesday October 12th. Click here to register.
Energy Challenges
The energy challenges that schools around the US and around the world have to face every day. The subject of the day's activities will be "Energy Efficiency in Schools". Each team will have access to some general data about energy efficiency, and how energy efficiency problems have been approached historically at IDS.
Sincerely,
