Center for Creative Studies
Children who have the opportunity to actively explore the creative arts in all its forms – music, theater, design, and visual arts – not only develop a deep appreciation for the artistic process but also build confidence and skill in producing and displaying their own creative pieces. IDS Creative Arts programs provide children with challenging opportunities to express themselves in an encouraging, celebratory learning environment.
Essential Skills: Public Speaking, Imagination, Inventiveness, Confidence, Self-Expression
- Class plays performances in grades K-5
- Middle School Musical
- Winter and spring concerts for choral and instrumental performances
- An annual K-8 talent show
- Grade 8 students run All School Meeting presentations,
- Students’ visual artwork is displayed at the Durham Fair
- Participation in regional and state music competitions
- Grade 8 students run the Middle School Meeting,
- All Middle School students are enrolled in a theater class
- Participation in Geography Bee and Spelling Bee
- Class exhibitions such as Roman Forum, Immigration Fair, Invention Convention
- Galleries around the school to display students art
