This past Saturday, members of the IDS community gathered at the Langer Playground to dedicate the “Sharon McLaughlin Memorial Bench” in memory of former IDS staff member Sharon McLaughlin. Longtime PE Teacher and Athletic Coordinator, Janet Sisson, who worked at IDS for over 30 years and was a close colleague with Sharon, gave a beautiful tribute to her friend. Many other former faculty members came back to campus as well for this special ceremony. Sharon’s family was also present, with her widower, Paul, cutting the ceremonial blue and green ribbon. Finally, the McLaughlin family donated a beautiful “Rose of Sharon” bush to be planted near the “Buddy Bench,” which will be known as “Sharon’s Spot!”
