In the spring, students head to the Lyman Golf Course, just a short "drive" (that's golf humor) from the campus. Students learn the fundamentals of golf, perfecting their swing and putting. Students bring their own golf clubs from home or can rent equipment for a small fee.
Golf is a game that teaches many of life's most valuable lessons and our IDS kids are very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn golf in Middle School. According to Monte Koch, PGA Certified Golf Professional, some of the lessons learned include patience, acceptance, perspective and maturity. "Bad bounces happen, in life and on the golf course, after both good shots and bad...it's how you respond to the bounces that determine your level of success."
