IDS Students Selected to Regional Band

Six students from the Independent Day School were selected to join the Southern Region Middle School Music Festival! Auditions were held online via video submissions of each student playing their chosen instrument.  Students had to prepare a piece and scales for the audition and were graded on tone, intonation, rhythm accuracy, tempo, dynamics, articulation, ornamentation and phrasing. 

In previous years, the students would go to a weekend event where they would rehearse and perform. This year, the students will participate in an online event. 

“I am proud of how hard our students worked, the excellent playing they submitted, and the high scores they all achieved!” remarked music teacher Jane Mills.
