IDS Hosts Local Library Reading Event

On Wednesday, August 11, The Independent Day School served as the host location for the Levi E. Coe Library summer storytime series, “Where in Middlefield.”

“Where in Middlefield” is a creative initiative in which representatives from the library go to various locations throughout Middlefield to host storytime readings on Wednesday mornings. The events are free to attend and are open to the public.

IDS was thrilled to partner with the library and be one of the featured locations. Despite temperatures steadily increasing with the start of the current heat wave, numerous current IDS families and students, along with new families and friends, traveled to the campus and gathered under a shady hill to listen to and enjoy the stories being read.

The session included readings from Head Children’s Librarian of the Levi E. Coe Library, Vicki Berry, IDS’ Head of School, Dr. Marijke Kehrhahn, and IDS’ Assistant Head of School, Mr. David Sizemore. Additionally, guests in attendance enjoyed juice boxes, snacks, ice pops, and free time to play on the nearby Early Childhood playground.

"We enjoyed collaborating with the folks from the Levi E. Coe Library to provide a special story time to Middlefield and IDS youngsters," remarked Dr. Kehrhahn. "It was great to see so many children and parents enjoying themselves on our beautiful campus!"

Thank you so much to the Levi E. Coe Library for including us in this fun and educational initiative, and we look forward to hosting another storytime reading in the future!
